Every Christmas, the Angel Tree program reaches out to children of incarcerated parents and their caregivers with gifts and food baskets. This year, at Lakeside Christian Church, we are extending our outreach for this program to Easter in correlation with the 40 Days of Love. We want to not only share the joy of our Savior’s Birth at Christmas Time, but we also want to share the LOVE, JOY, and HOPE given to us through the Cross and Resurrection during this Easter Season with the ANGEL EASTER BASKET program.
What We Will Provide
- We would like each child to receive an Easter Basket with candy and goodies and a small age-appropriate gift to celebrate the Easter Season. Ideas for gifts could be books, CDs, Movies, Coloring books/Crayons, a Small toy or stuffed animal, or any other small age-appropriate gift.
- We would also like to provide a food basket for each family that would include non- perishable items, such as mac and cheese, can goods, mashed potato mix, dessert mixes, cereals, soups, peanut butter, etc. But also, it would be wonderful to help supply an Easter Meal for each family to include a ham, bread/rolls, cookies or cake.
Ways your Small Group CAN HELP:
- Your group can adopt one or more families to provide Easter Baskets for each child and a Food Basket for the entire family.
- Your group can collect items to provide only a food basket for one or more families
- Your group can provide only the Angel Easter Basket for one or more of the children.
- Your group can help deliver the Baskets on Saturday, April 11 from 9am to Noon!
- Your group can collect Monetary donations to provide baskets for the children
- Your group can pray for the prisoners, their children and their caregivers.
If your small group would like to help with this important project, sign up in the Foyer at the GC19 Counter on Sunday! Angel Easter Basket Sunday (when the names are distributed) will be on Sunday, March 29th, so sign up early for this project and reach out with LOVE to those in our community!
